The Story Behind Gravel & Grace Studio

There is something so calming about a gravel road that stretches out before you for endless miles. The crunch of gravel under your feet, the wide-open sky above you, and the quiet stillness all around that just... clears your head. And your heart.

A Farm Girl at Heart

I grew up on a farm, and honestly, those dusty gravel roads were my everything. They were where I'd walk to clear my head after a tough day, where I'd meet up with my cousin for deep conversations about life and where we thought it would take us, where I would ride my bike a mile down the road for evening ice cream with my grandparents, where my friends and I would ride our bikes and chat for hours. Where I'd go to think, to pray, to figure things out. There was something magical about those roads—the way they stretched out endlessly, the peace they brought, the perspective they gave me when life felt overwhelming.

But like a lot of country kids, I left. Went to college in the city. Got married. Built a life. And I was always content and happy with what I had, but deep down, there was always this pull. This longing to get back to my roots. Back to the slower pace. Back to those gravel roads.

The Dream Becomes Reality

In the spring of 2025, we finally did it!  We moved to the country. And let me tell you, I am in heaven!

I can't even put into words how much joy this life brings me. The sunrises that awaken your soul. The sunsets that make you stop everything and just stare. The peacefulness that settles into your bones. The slower pace that lets you actually live instead of just rush through life.

And those gravel roads? They're back in my life, and I'm pretty sure my soul has never been happier.

Where the Magic Happens

Here's the thing about gravel roads—they're not just roads to me. They're where I meet God. Where I find clarity when everything feels chaotic. Where grace shows up, again and again, reminding me that I'm loved, I'm seen, and everything's going to be okay.

I've had some of my deepest, most honest conversations with God on those roads. I've cried there. I've laughed there. I've worked through hard things and celebrated beautiful things. And every single time, I've found grace. God's grace. The kind that meets you right where you are, dust on your boots and all.

That's why this place fills my soul with so much joy. It's not just the views (though, wow, those views!). It's the grace I find here. The peace. The connection to something bigger than myself.

Why Gravel & Grace?

So, when it came time to name my photography studio, the word Grace was stirring deep in my soul.

Because this name represents everything I believe in. The grounded and the graceful. The worn and the worthy. The journey and the destination. The struggle and the beauty that emerges from it.

Gravel represents where I come from—the country roots that shaped me, the humble paths that taught me to slow down and be present. It's the grit, the real and unpolished moments that make life beautiful.

Grace represents what I've found along the way—the undeserved gift of grace, the beauty in ordinary moments, the divine presence that shows up when you're willing to walk the dusty road and listen. The reminder that you're loved exactly as you are, mess and all.

What This Means for Your Photos

I want to capture the grace in your gravel roads. The beauty in your everyday moments. The love that's woven through your story, even (especially!) in the imperfect parts.

Because those moments? That's where the magic is. That's where grace shows up. And that's what I'm here to help you remember.

Whether you're celebrating a milestone, documenting your family's story, or simply wanting to remember this season of life, I see the beauty in your real, unfiltered moments.

Because that's what photography is really about—not perfection, but presence. Not posing, but being. Not hiding the gravel, but celebrating how grace shows up right there in the middle of it.

This countryside fills my soul with joy, and I want to help you see and remember the joy in your own story. Whatever road you're walking, whatever season you're in, there's beauty there. There's grace there.

And I would be absolutely honored to capture it for you.

So welcome to Gravel & Grace Studio. I can't wait to hear about your gravel and grace story.
